Illinois Central College attended the 55th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Louisville, Kentucky from June 24th through the 29th. ICC students represented the state of Illinois in Diesel Equipment Technology, Graphic Imaging Sublimation, Graphic Communications, Internetworking, Screen Printing Technology, Welding Fabrication, Pin Design, and Information Technology Services. Illinois Central College was awarded 3 national gold medals.

From April 11-13, students competed at the SkillsUSA Illinois State Leadership and Skills Conference in Springfield. ICC students represented the state of Illinois in Telecommunications Cabling, Diesel Equipment Technology, Photography, 3D Visualization and Animation, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Graphic Imaging Sublimation, Computer Programming, Advertising Design, Screen Printing Technology, Pin Design, and Information Technology Services. Total, Illinois Central College was awarded 3 national medals.

Additionally, Haliah Offutt’s design was selected by the state of Illinois as their official t-shirt at the National Conference.

Devin Welchman’s pin design was also selected by the state of Illinois as their official pin at the National Conference.

From June 19-23, 2017, Illinois Central College participated at the 53rd annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Louisville, Kentucky. ICC students represented the state of Illinois in Diesel Equipment Technology, Screen Printing Technology, Internetworking, Computer Programming, Advertising Design, Graphics Imaging-Sublimation, and T-Shirt Design. 2 students were awarded national silver medals.

Additionally, Tyler Phillips’ T-Shirt design was selected by the state of Illinois as their official t-shirt at the National Conference. If you look closely you can see various iconic symbols and imagery of Illinois including the Chicago skyline, earth moving equipment, a corn field, the face of Abraham Lincoln, and more.

ICC took 51 students and faculty advisors to the SkillsUSA State Championships in Springfield (April 27-29). Gold medalists have earned the honor of competing at the National Conference in Louisville, KY in June. This year our students represented Illinois Central College in Louisville, Kentucky as part of the 52nd annual SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference that was held from June 20-25, 2016. Five students were awarded National medals.

Several of ICC’s Faculty and Alumni have continued to assist at the National Conference. Eric Hill (Pekin) (former State and local officer) and current State Director for SkillsUSA Illinois. Michael Raydon (Chillicothe) (former local officer and national medalist) assisted with the National Education Team in the Computer Maintenance competition. Jonathan Worent (Peoria) (former national medalist) assisted with the National Education Team in the Web Design competition. Brandy Thatcher (Former local officer and national medalist) and Shari Tripp (Pekin) (ICC) assisted with judging for Web Design. Mark DuBois continued this year (as in the past several years) in the role of National Technical Chair for the Web Design competition. Nick Hulva (East Peoria) (former State and local officer and national medalist) served on the Quiz Bowl National Education Team. Nick has also served this past year at the State level serving on the Board of Directors. Colin Van Orman (Forest City) (former state medalist and national competitor) has joined us this year as a new faculty member and faculty advisor. Kevin Wells (East Peoria) (former local officer and student medalist in Internetworking) continues to serve as the Faculty and Chapter co-advisor for SkillsUSA. Thank you all for representing Illinois Central College and the State of Illinois in such a remarkable way!!

This year five students represented Illinois Central College in Louisville, Kentucky to take part in the 51st annual SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference that was held from June 22-27, 2015. One student was awarded a National medal.

As always Illinois Central College had several Alumni and Faculty participating at this year’s National Conference to help assist students, judge competitions, and represent the State of Illinois:

Kim Hawthorne, Kevin Wells, Mark DuBois, Dave Cook, Jeff Gardner, Shari Tripp, Brandy Thatcher, Nicholas Hulva, Michael Raydon, and Jonathan Worent. Eric Hill (former state and local ICC SkillsUSA officer) will be taking over as the State Director for SkillsUSA Illinois in September.

In addition, Mark DuBois and Jeff Gardner will be representing not only ICC, but Illinois and the nation as supervisor and judges at World Skills International in August 2015. They are the first two from Illinois with this honor.
