2014 SkillsUSA National Championship

The SkillsUSA Championships, held in Kansas City, Mo., took place June 24-26, 2014, as part of the SkillsUSA 50th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. Illinois Central College was represented by twelve students across nine different competitions. Two students in particular were awarded medallions.

Illinois Central College took 85 students and faculty advisors to the SkillsUSA State Championships in Springfield (April 2-5). These Gold medalists have won the honor of competing at Nationals in Kansas City in June. Please help me in congratulating the following students on a job well done and Good Luck in Kansas City:

In addition to our many student wins, our chapter also won First Place – Total Membership Award.

Thanks again to Mark DuBois who was a contest supervisors for Web Design. Our Alumni continue to play supporting roles with the state and local chapters. Congratulations to all!!! ICC Alumni who give of their time as Contest Supervisors/assistants as well: Jonathan Warrant—Web Design contest assistant; Brandy Thatcher—Web Design contest assistant; Andrew Fritz—Internetworking contest supervisor; Dave McKnight—Internetworking judge; Nick Hulva—State Board member and Contest Floor setup assistant and Quiz Bowl and Computer Maintenance Contest Supervisors; Michael Raydon—Computer Maintenance; and Eric Hill—State Assistant Director, Conference and Alumni Assistant. We have an amazing, active alumni that continues to grow each and every year. I can’t say enough about their dedication and commitment to giving back to the students and the organization.

Thank you to our chapter officers and co-advisor (Adam Bollinger, Logan Winkler, Chad Birchenall, Montie Wilder, Nate Riehl, Sean Linden, Donald Clouse and Kevin Wells) for the extra help before, during, and after the conference. Lunch delivery helper: Kevin helped me deliver the lunches (over 60 lunches served at two locations) to all of the competitors.

The Illinos Central College chapter officers and advisors attended the 2014 IACTE conference. We volunteered our time to the organization by helping out with the technology aspects of the conference and by taking pictures, among other things. Below are (will be) some pictures from the conference.
